CATHLEEN COOPER MORAN

picture1.jpg (14699 bytes)    A  certified specialist in bankruptcy*, Cathy has practiced law on the San Francisco Peninsula since 1978. She is a graduate of Stanford University and Hastings College of the Law where she was a member of the Hastings Law Journal and elected to the Order of the Coif.

Over the course of her career, she has represented trustees, creditors and creditors committees and well as debtors in Chapters 7, 11, and 13.  She also serves as an expert witness on bankruptcy matters.

"Finding solutions for clients is one of the things that I find most challenging", says Cathy.  "I'm looking for the approach that fits the client's needs, goals, and pocketbook."

The intersection of tax and family law questions in the bankruptcy forum holds a special appeal for Cathy. She feels strongly about maintaining the integrity of the bankruptcy system by ferreting out fraud and in keeping bankruptcy relief available to the honest debtor.

Cathy was the prevailing attorney in the recent 9th Circuit BAP decision in Sunahara dealing with the right of Chapter 13 debtors to satisfy a confirmed plan in less than 36 months. Hear Cathy's interview on Wisconsin Public Radio on debt and the elderly.

Read more of Cathy's thoughts on bankruptcy in her blog, On the Bankruptcy Soapbox, and in collatoration with other bankruptcy lawyers at Bankruptcy Law Network. Credit Law Network, Debt Law Network and Mortgage Law Network.

Cathy is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorney (NACBA) where she was a recent member of the month, and the Congressman Don Edwards Inn of Court.   Contact Cathy at ccmoran@moranlaw.net.

Congress thinks that we are debt relief agents, whatever that is. We certainly help people file bankruptcy. We also represent all of the other players in a bankruptcy proceeding and those affected by the bankruptcy of others.
